So, who are Vacance?

A new French band from Bordeaux, falsely carefree, indolently melodic, and unashamedly synthetic.

The group is composed of Allison, who sings and writes sweet ironic lyrics on the life of a woman of today, Laurent (also pianist in Lokomotiv Sofia, a French chanson band) on keyboards, and Michaël (who also plays in Feutre, and ex-Watoo Watoo, a very indiepop Stereolabian group) as a handyman (except for the vacuum cleaner in the cellar).

2019 has seen the trio camped in their aforementioned cellar refining their 80s pop songs and trying to be slightly more human, whilst still wearing their beloved electronic attire.

The trio’s first album will be released on 23rd October on the Greek label Melotron Recordings.

“Nos Futurs”’s ten songs are somewhat reminiscent of Jeunes Gens Mödernes (bands from the French pop/post-punk scene in 1980), the explosions of Kas Product, or English New Romantic pop such as very early Depeche Mode, OMD or Human League.

The group has also covered songs by the mustachioed Lee Hazlewood as well as the seminal dream pop band Galaxie 500 (recently released on a compilation).

Vacance are fans of and draw inspiration from 60s to 80s pop, Kraftwerk, all the bands mentioned above and probably a lot more.

Un groupe bordelais faussement insouciant, indolemment mélodique, plutôt synthétique ?

Le groupe est composé de Allison, qui chante et écrit des textes d’une douce ironie sur la vie d’une femme d’aujourd’hui, de Laurent (également pianiste dans le groupe de chanson Lokomotiv Sofia) aux claviers, et de Michaël (qui joue aussi dans Feutre, et ex-Watoo Watoo, un groupe très indiepop) en homme-à-tout faire sauf passer l'aspirateur dans la cave.

Durant l'année 2019, le trio a peaufiné ses pop songs aux sonorités 80s, dans la cave susnommée, tâchant d’être humain et émouvant tout en se parant d’atours électroniques.

Vacance sort son premier album le 23 octobre chez le label grec Melotron Recordings.

Les 10 morceaux de « Nos futurs » font parfois penser à la vague des Jeunes Gens Mödernes de la scène pop/post-punk française de 1980, aux explosions de Kas Product, ou à une pop anglaise telle que les tous premiers Depeche Mode, OMD ou Human League.

Le groupe reprend aussi un morceau du moustachu Lee Hazlewood ainsi que du groupe séminal de dream pop Galaxie 500, sorti récemment sur une compilation.

Vacance aime et peut s'inspirer de la pop des 60s aux 80s, de Kraftwerk, des groupes cités ci-dessus et de probablement plein d'autres choses.
